This history is the legendary property of our institute. I heard it many times while studying there, in many variants, but the main plot was, of course, unchanged.

The Institute (now SibGIU) in the early 1990s, was taught by an associate professor of Malcev, a man of 50-55 years.
The story of course is about him.
He liked to tear his teeth at lectures, twisted anecdotes along the course of submitting material, and so organically it fits into the topic of the lecture that listening to him was a pleasure. In general, the lecturer was well-deserved by us, students, as a specific man, smart, not a snob and a first-class specialist in his field.
He also mentioned several times how in his youth he served in the naval infantry at the height of the Cuban-American conflict. He was accompanied by transport vessels carrying military-humanitarian-medical aid to Cuba, and brought from the Island of Liberty to the USSR wounded and sick Cubans, as was under the bombardment of the U.S. aircraft, fiercely bombarding these same vessels with the flags of the Red Cross and huge red crosses on deck.
The same story happened a year or two before I started studying at our institute.
So, the method of teaching the lectures of Maltsev, like a little lighthearted, with jokes and anecdotes, many students misled that the exams with him can be passed as easily, with jokes and dentistry.
But it was far from so. He was a man of principle, he did not give any favor to anyone, it was almost impossible for him to write off the exam, he did not take bribes, so many people went to him to pass the exams many times. I know I’ve done it three times.)
And here, one day, three secondary students, tired and angry about repeated passing the exam in physics, decided to study the teaching, and specifically - simply beat it. And, driving him in the evening after the lectures, in the park near the institute, they struck a lonely professor, three of them on one...
The tactics of these students were not important, but the strategists were not important at all.
The young people did not take into account that their physics teacher was, of course, an associate professor, but nevertheless not a complete botanist. He was, of course, not far away.
20 years old, but weighing less than a hundred kilograms, he was not old-fashioned and thick, but had a center of well-trained muscles, as he regularly visited the institute gym and institute pool.
And they missed, the poor, seemingly the same lectures where he told how he served in Cuba. At the time of the Soviet Union, the marines were trained as needed, in full, so that the skills of hand-fighting in the docent remained at the level of reflexes.
As a result, the fight, as such, was practically not - literally a few strikes Maltsov silently placed the first two attackers - a complete knock-out!!! to
The third attacker, seeing that his shareholders were cut out in just a few seconds, did not think long, turned and cautiously fled.
But this is only the middle of history.
These students did not cancel the re-examination, so after a few days, they had to come to the docent for the next re-examination... Well, where did they go...??? ))) Maltsov, possessing a good memory, when he saw his offenders, calmly called to himself those two whom he knocked, with notes. And, reluctantly putting them out the three, let go.
Then he called the third attacker and said to him:
You will never be studying at this school again.
He tried to object:
Why is? I didn’t even touch you.
Because he shook and threatened his friends!! to
That cowardly guy, of course, could not pass Maltsev's exam and was discounted.
And we began to respect the docent even more - real men, who are not afraid, are professionals in their business and have their own point of view on any situation, now a rarity in our time.
