"The Fuck of the Artist" is a work of art by the Italian artist Piero Mandzoni, a representative of the epatage in art.
In May 1961, Mandzoni gathered his own feces in 90 numbered canned bottles, each containing 30 grams, wrote on them "100 percent natural shit of the artist" in Italian, English, French and German and sold them at a price similar to the price of gold of the same mass. The current price is approximately 30,500 euros. On May 23, 2007, one of the copies was sold for €124,000 at the Sotheby's auction.
Mansoni argued that with his project he attracted attention to the confidence of buyers of works of art. “All of these Milanese bourgeois pigs just like shit,” the artist said.
