My grandfather is 80. He lives in an apartment alone and does not want to move to any of the children. Placing his money in the bank does not agree and keeps them at home, hiding in a reliable (as he believes) place - in a closet in clean bedding. There are also "hidden" and a pair of gold rings of his deceased wife.
One of his sons, somewhere abroad, saw and bought an ordinary, like a bowl of cleaning powder, equipped with a secret second bottom. Standing among such pots and bottles in the toilet or warehouse, it will not attract the attention of even a very experienced housekeeper. The bank was presented to his grandfather, showed how to use it and hoped that his soul would now be calm for his savings.
It wasn’t six months since his grandfather’s Khrushchev was robbed while he was going to the store. They only took the most valuable, and, unfortunately, the contents of the bank with a secret bottom.
Speaking on the phone with the investigator, I expressed the suspicion that the thief was probably someone whom his grandfather had stumbled over the bank, because accidentally hitting it in such a short time is simply unthinkable.
What the detective said turned out to be somewhat unexpected:
