This autumn in Latvia will be presented a new musical "Zukurs. Herbert Zuckerberg. In the description of the production it is said that it is a story about the legendary flight, adventures and tragic fate of the Liepaja aviator. This year marks 80 years since Tsukurs triumphantly returned from the legendary flight to Gambia.
As the author of the idea, Juris Miller, said, the main line of the plot in the musical will be the tragic events of the history of Latvia through the prism of the life of one patriot.

In 1941, following the capture of Riga by the German troops, the legendary pilot voluntarily joined the punitive team of Arissa. This unit was involved in the mass murder of Latvian Jews in the Riga ghetto and in Rumbul, a forest located near Riga. More than 25,000 were shot. The Jews. Herbert Zucurus is considered a complicit of these crimes. Some witnesses recalled that Tsukurs was shooting directly from the window of his car. According to the memories of other witnesses, in November 1941, Tsukurs personally killed the elderly and the sick who were behind the column. After the war, Tsukurs fled to Germany and then to Brazil. In 1965, he was liquidated in Uruguay by agents of Mossad.
