Here is the probability from the American National Safety Council:
1 out of 98 chance of dying in a car accident
1 out of 7178 chance of dying in an aircraft crash
(for the rest of my life)

I would like to add that these are numbers for America, covered by a dense network of short-haul flights. There is almost extinct passenger traffic on the railways, and where we choose the “night in the train” of the type Peter-Moscow, Moscow-Samara etc., an American jumps into the plane and in forty minutes on the spot. As a result, they fly much more often than we do, up to frequent flights of younger schoolchildren on the principle of "mother spends in one airport, grandmother will meet in another."
