A cat named Sel, living in the family of Guy and Anna Espozito in Boston, Massachusetts, was summoned to court - the animal was ordered to become a member of the jury, reports Metro.

According to Anna Espozito, the cat paper could have been erroneously issued when analyzing the census application filled by the spouses during the U.S. Census: in the papers they indicated that their family has a cat Sall. The pet Espozito was taken to the special county "home animals", but probably in the court instance did not notice this and considered Sela a full member of the family.

Sel's owners tried to explain to the city's judicial authorities that Sel is a cat, therefore, does not speak English, and therefore can not take part in the meeting, but no results were given. According to the official website of the Massachusetts judicial system, a member of the jury is not obliged to speak English perfectly.

Now Sally will have to go to a meeting with her mistress. The hearing in the case, during which the cat will become a member of the jury, will be held on March 23, 2011. The essence of the case in which the cat passes through the jury is not disclosed.
