The day of the Soviet Army and Navy was celebrated. Today is the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland, but it is not important.
Seven years ago, I heard on Russian radio an interview with some Lesh-Tarsan, once the owner of a famous nightclub in Miami and apparently one of the bosses of the Russian mafia in Florida. He gave the interview by phone, if I’m not mistaken, from a Canadian prison, but it doesn’t matter. He was charged with trying to sell a Soviet submarine of the class "Piranha" to the Colombian drug mafia to deliver cocaine and heroin to the United States. Lecha worked on this operation together with the Cuban Juan Almeida. "Piranha" took a look at the Colombians because of their small size and excellent dive bridge system. The boat is really impressive. At http://world.lib.ru/b/b_a/pictureweekly.shtml you can look at it.
"When Almeida came out to me with an offer, I clearly understood that nothing would work out," Lecha-Tarzan said, "Well, how do you imagine pulling a combat submarine out of the port? Nevertheless, after learning about the budget of $150 million, I decided that 5-10 million I, a Jewish guy, would somehow give in any arrangement and agreed. He flew to Russia. There I was brought with a very great Admiral. We met him at the Kronstadt Navy base to see the goods, as they say, live. I will never forget his first question for the rest of my life.
How will you buy? With arms or without?
