A story from the hometown of the fighter Ivan Poddubny. It happened in the early 20th century. His brother Mitrofan served in St. Petersburg and came home on holiday. When he met his sister Matren, he noticed that she was somewhat sad. The woman told: the husband often drinks, brings the head of drunk friends, they arrange a drinking room in the house. “Al once show them that you are from the Cossack family of the Poddubny,” Mitrofan advised.
Soon the husband returned home with his companions, demanded to cover on the table, bring salt cucumbers from the basement. Matren, a woman of extraordinary strength and weighing under a hundred kilograms, easily took out of the basement a four-bed barrel of cucumbers and so struck her on the table that it collapsed. It did not withstand the impact and the metal frame, which was attached to the barrel. Cucumbers flew around the house. Guests are like the wind. Matrina threw her husband out of the window, saying, “When you fall asleep, knock, maybe, and I’ll open.” Since then, the spouses have lived soul to soul.
