Russian liberalism is not an attack on the existing order of things, but an attack on the very essence of our things, on the things themselves, and not only on the order, not on the Russian order, but on Russia itself. My liberal has come to the point of denying Russia itself, that is to say, hating and beating his mother. Every unfortunate and unsuccessful Russian fact arouses in him laughter and almost enthusiasm. He hates popular customs, Russian history, everything. This hatred of Russia, not so long ago, our other liberals took it almost as true love of the homeland and boasted that they see better than others what it should consist of; but now it has become more open and even the words "love of the homeland" have begun to be ashamed, even the concept has been expelled and eliminated as harmful and insignificant.
