Recently I came across an interesting fact: During World War II, many British pilots who were shot down and captured were confiscated by the Nazis for the German Army’s needs. Without clocks, the English were in prison hard – neither time for tea to learn, nor escape to organize. Therefore, they began to order and receive watches by post from the company Rolex in Switzerland. The most interesting thing about this story is not that the letters from the concentration camp arrived in Switzerland, and the packages with "rolex" were returned back and reached the recipients, but the most interesting thing is that the Rolex firm sent the clocks to the captive English almost for free, only for the promise to pay after the war.
And I remembered the stories of my father, who was born before the war in one of the Volga villages. As he and the rest of kindergartens during the harvest were taken for whole days to the grazing fields, to collect falling wheat grains, and that if lucky, then in a day managed to collect a whole circle of grains. How hungry it was, despite his father, my grandfather, sending all the cards of his officer’s paycheck home to feed his wife and two young sons. As he came with his mother to the selpo, he first smashed with his hand all the bread crumbs from the shelf, which was just at the level of his eyes, from pushing them into his mouth, to the shame of his mother.
Our people and Europe have seen and see that War differently. And they will never understand us, and we will never understand them, we must stop deceiving ourselves in this. And when now people in black shape with torches march through the center of Kiev, the Lord in Europe is not concerned that the supply of their "rolex" may be disrupted.
Happy Victory Day guys! Our grandparents did something right in history, and we must not forget this, nor where the Lord with the "rolex" can take now.
