I present another real story from my clinical practice.
1st Liaison
A 35-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital with psychogenic paralysis of the lower limbs (dissociative motor disorder).
I was raised by my mother, there was no father. For a mother - the only, beloved child, protected from any work. She doesn’t remember ever cleaning or cooking food – everything was done by her mom. At the age of 20 she married, gave birth to two children. Mother lived with them and continued to carry on all the household duties: cooked for the whole family, laundered, dealt with grandchildren, led them through kindergartens and circles.
4 of mes. The mother died suddenly, and the patient faced the need to do everything herself. The husband comes from work - requires to eat, the children also ask for food, they need to work with them, drive one to the kindergarten, another - to school, etc. According to the woman, her life "turned into a nightmare." She lived so for a few months, then her legs were taken away, she stopped walking. It was not a conscious pretending, a simulation. This was done.
2nd unsuccessful treatment
We were lying there for six months. And so she was treated, and so, even hypnosis tried. All without meaning. Any hints that her symptoms are a run into illness, an attempt to escape from a difficult life situation, caused a woman to misunderstand and resent. She said: I am not a simulant, I try to cope with it! But my feet refuse to listen to me.
Three disconnected
One day came the news that the husband of the patient has survived a stroke, is in resuscitation. The children remained alone. I was worried: how can I tell her about it? Expected a stormy reaction, seizure, intensification of symptoms.
When she heard what had happened, she stood up and went. and silence. It was released the same day.
