Experts from the company Trustwave SpiderLabs found a critical gap in the safety of the "smart" toilet Satis. It turned out that remote access to the control of this Japanese miracle of technology could easily be obtained by hackers.



The vulnerability in the Trustwave SpiderLabs toilets has been discovered for a long time, but experts did not publish information about the breach, trying to contact the manufacturer. As the developer of the device, the Japanese firm Lixil, did not respond to the warnings, experts decided to publish information about the vulnerability.



Satis toilets are controlled by the Android application My Satis, which transmits commands to the device via Bluetooth. However, as it turned out, the app has a default PIN code "0000", which cannot be changed. Knowing this feature, you can capture the control of any Satis smart toilets within the reach of the Bluetooth signal.



The offender may wash water in the toilet without the owner’s permission. It can also remotely activate the fan, turn on music, and so on.



How the owners of miracle units for $ 4,5 thousand can secure themselves is not yet clear. Lixil has not yet responded to the disclosed information.
